My Approach
My therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, supportiveness, and cultural sensitivity. I strive to foster a strong alliance, building trust and mutual respect with each and every individual that I work with.
I use evidence-based practice in all of my work. My doctoral and post-doctoral clinical training has helped me to specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Where appropriate, I also utilise techniques and tools from Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Schema Therapy (ST) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) to help my clients to move forwards. My relevant qualifications and professional registrations are listed at the bottom of this page.

In the room, I am an active and practical therapist, and my friendly and collaborative manner helps my clients to find the tools they need to make positive changes to their lives. My sessions are also filled with compassion to allow for reflection and discussion on the important matters at hand. It is often important (although not vital) to speak about the past in therapy – we do so gently and use the knowledge we gain to help you to identify patterns and pitfalls to learn from for the future. Even if things feel really tough, clients and I can often find the space to laugh or joke in sessions, and humour and lightness sits at the centre of my demeanour.
Whilst our therapeutic relationship is crucial, I also believe in surrounding an individual with a strong team - much of my academic research has been focussed on the power of social capital. My extensive clinical network and an emphasis on strengthening the system around a client will help us to maximise the personal and professional support that you need to thrive.
